Specialist mould and mildew treatment for offshore wind turbine interiors
A water-based antimicrobial concentrate that removes mould, mildew and biofilm from tower, nacelle and hub interiors.
Removes the growth, not just the stain
TurbineClean is built on quaternary ammonium compounds of the benzalkonium chloride type, supported by non-ionic surfactants. The actives disrupt microbial cell membranes on contact, which is what lifts mould, mildew and biofilm off the surface rather than smearing it around.
It is a cleaning and removal product. Mould is a moisture problem before it is a chemical one, so the lasting fix inside a turbine is controlling damp and cleaning on a sensible interval. We would rather tell you that than sell you a promise the surface will stay clear on its own.
How it is applied
Dilute 1 to 5
One part concentrate to five parts clean water. Where contamination is heavy, repeat the application rather than mixing it stronger.
First pass, 30 seconds
Apply to the affected surface by low-pressure spray or cloth, leave for 30 seconds, then wipe the growth away.
Second pass, 30 seconds
Apply again to the cleaned surface and leave for a further 30 seconds. Every surface gets both passes.
Rinse and remove
Spray with clean water and wipe dry. Bag the used wipes and take them off the asset.
Engineered for confined spaces, offshore logistics, and marine compliance
Every attribute has been verified against the documented challenges of working inside offshore wind turbines.
Water-based, not solvent-based
A water-based liquid formulation, not classified as flammable under CLP.
Barely perceptible odour
Does not flood confined spaces with volatile fumes. Work without respiratory distress.
Mildly alkaline (pH ~8)
Effective enough for cleaning activity, mild enough to preserve coatings and seals.
Readily biodegradable
No PBT, no vPvB, no endocrine disruptors, no REACH-listed substances.
Concentrate format
Diluted 1 to 5 on site, so one container treats far more surface than a ready-to-use product.
Flash point above 65 °C
Not classified as flammable. No solvent vapour build-up in a sealed tower or nacelle.
Stable and non-reactive
Chemically stable under normal conditions. No hazardous decomposition products.
Safe across the full range of turbine interior materials
Four container sizes, one formulation
Sporex ships as the same concentrate in every size, labelled and classified to the safety data sheet. Trade prices and volume breaks are published on the pricing page.

What this product is — and what it is not
TurbineClean is specifically formulated to eliminate mould, mildew, and biological contamination. It is not a degreaser. It is not a replacement for products that remove hydraulic oil or heavy mechanical contamination.
Best practice is to degrease first, then treat biological contamination. TurbineClean does the second job. It sits alongside your degreasing products in the maintenance protocol, not in place of them.
Where TurbineClean fits in your wind turbine cleaning products
Most wind turbine cleaning products on the market are degreasers and general industrial cleaners, built to shift oil, grease and grime. TurbineClean is the specialist antimicrobial cleaner that handles the part those products leave behind: the mould, mildew and biofilm that colonise damp turbine interiors.
Think of it as one line in your wind turbine cleaner kit rather than a replacement for it. Keep your degreaser for oil and grease, and add TurbineClean for biological contamination. If mould is the specific problem you are solving, start with wind turbine mould removal.
